A Few weekends ago, we decided to freshen up our laundry closet in our townhome in Nashville Tennessee. We are getting it ready to put it on the market, so we are giving it some extra TLC. Our plan was to paint, replace flooring, install new shelving, and add some décor. It turned out to be an easy project and made a huge difference! Whatever it takes to enjoy doing laundry…right?
I’d like to share a few cost effective things to help get your laundry closet one of your favorite areas in your home…well maybe not your favorite, but not your least favorite!
New Floors
New Paint
Upgrade Shelving
Lighting
Functionality
When we pulled out the washer and dryer we realized the linoleum was original and needed to be replaced. this is often the case in areas that are full of moisture and humidity. We got some self-adhesive linoleum for the floor. It was only $.88 a piece. It added so much and was very budget friendly. Another huge thing is getting the trays to go under your washer, they are $25 a piece at Lowes, but really save your floors and look nice too. Something important to think about when buying paint for a high moisture area is getting an additive added to your paint. They have an additive that will prevent mold and mildew. Its $2 and is a plus in an area that has so much moisture and humidity. Our Porter Paints in Nipper’s Corner (corner of Old Hickory Blvd and Nolensville Road) is our favorite paint store. The best in Nashville TN in my opinion.
After the new floor and fresh paint, it was decorating FUN time! We replaced the shelf unit, added some crate type boxes, a small owl lamp, a small frame of our young boy (which reminds us why all the extra laundry is worth it), some fun
laundry signs (found at our local Big Lots on sale), and a cute laundry sign outside of the closet! In our home everything is function over fashion, but we are impressed with our cute laundry closet and hope the next home owners love it as much as we do. Please go through our before-and-after pictures and let us know what you think of our New Laundry Closet Re-do on a BUDGET! All-in-all, we probably spent under $75! Not bad from Blah to Fun and Functional!
As always, thank you for checking out our blog and let me know how I can help you get your home ready to sell.
Thanks,
